Empowering and Connecting
Supporting families. Illuminating care. Changing lives.
Lighthouse Dementia Support is a community-led initiative created from lived experience, with a heartfelt mission to support and educate family members, friends, and unpaid carers of people living with dementia, especially those being cared for at home.
We are currently operating as an unincorporated charity and are in the process of registering as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (foundation model) with the Charity Commission.
While many dementia charities focus on research and prevention, we address a different kind of gap: the one families feel in the day-to-day. We offer practical education and empathy-led training that help carers understand dementia more deeply, respond with confidence, and feel less alone.
We believe that care begins with connection—and that small changes, rooted in understanding, can transform the lives of both carers and those they support.
Whether you're just beginning the journey or navigating its complexities, Lighthouse Dementia Support is here to walk beside you—with clarity, compassion, and tools that truly make a difference.
Partners in the community
At Lighthouse Dementia Support, we know that meaningful change doesn’t happen in isolation. That’s why we work hand-in-hand with local organisations, health networks, community groups, families and other dementia charities to build a more dementia-aware society—one that listens, learns, and lifts each other up.
Whether it’s hosting awareness events, sharing resources, or supporting initiatives like the Virtual Dementia Tour, we’re proud to be part of a growing movement that puts people first. Together, we’re creating environments where carers feel supported, and those living with dementia are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.
Because when communities come together, care becomes stronger—and no one has to face dementia alone.
We Stand By You
Whether you're caring for a loved one, grieving the changes dementia brings, or simply trying to understand what comes next—we stand by you.
At Lighthouse Dementia Support, you're never just a visitor or a name on a list. You're part of a community that listens, lifts, and walks beside you. We offer practical tools, emotional reassurance, and a safe space to ask questions, share stories, and feel seen.

How we help
Free workshops. Real understanding. Stronger communities.
At Lighthouse Dementia Support, we believe that knowledge should never be out of reach, especially for those caring out of love, not profession.
That’s why all of our workshops, including the transformative Virtual Dementia Tour (supplied by Training2Care) are offered free of charge to unpaid carers, families, and loved ones affected by any type of dementia. Whether you're supporting someone at home, navigating a new diagnosis, or simply trying to understand what dementia feels like, our sessions are designed to meet you where you are, with compassion, clarity, and practical tools.
But our support doesn’t stop at education.
After each workshop, we begin building local communities of connection, safe spaces where carers can share experiences, ask questions, and feel less alone. These networks grow organically, rooted in empathy and shaped by the voices of those who live the reality of dementia every day. We will of course work in partnership with local groups should they already be in place.
Because understanding is just the beginning. What comes next is connection, confidence, and care that truly makes a difference.

Practical Education
We provide training resources (through Training2Care) that enhance understanding of dementia, through immersive training.

Emotional Support
Connect with others who attend the workshops, who share your or a similar journey. We work with existing local groups (such as memory cafe) or facilitate our own groups.

Resource Access
We can signpost you to the best resources, which we will talk through at the workshop.
We are pleased to share the link to the Dementia Dictionary, please see link below, which is a fabulous resource enabling you to look up and understand certain Dementia behaviours.
