Our Story

Lighthouse Dementia Support was born from a place of love, frustration, and quiet determination.

Our founders cared for a cherished family member with mixed dementia—someone private, not drawn to group activities, and living in a community where professional support was limited. Admiral Nurse services were stretched, NHS care was under pressure, and like so many families, they were left to navigate the journey alone.

That experience changed everything.

They saw firsthand how dementia affects not just memory, but dignity, relationships, and daily life. And they realised that what families need isn’t just clinical advice—they need practical tools, emotional reassurance, and a deeper understanding of what their loved one is going through.

That’s why Lighthouse Dementia Support exists.

Lighthouse Dementia Support is currently going through the registration process with the Charity Commission to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) under the foundation model. We’ve begun fundraising and raising awareness, but please note that the charity is currently unincorporated.

We offer education that’s clear and compassionate. We share real-world tips that make everyday care more manageable. And we help families feel less alone, whether they’re just beginning the journey or deep in its complexities.

We champion transformative experiences like the Virtual Dementia Tour, which allows family members, loved ones and non-paid carers to step into the world of someone living with dementia. It’s not about theory, it’s about empathy. And it’s proven to change how people care, connect, and communicate.

Because when you understand what dementia feels like, you stop reacting and start responding.

At Lighthouse Dementia Support, we believe that care begins with connection. And that even in the hardest moments, dignity and love can shine through.

Empowering Hearts and Minds

Dementia changes everything, but love, patience, and understanding can change it back.

This experience helps families move beyond frustration and fear, toward care that’s intuitive, respectful, and deeply human. It’s about seeing the person behind the diagnosis and remembering that even in confusion, connection is still possible.

At Lighthouse Dementia Support, we believe that when hearts are open and minds are informed, real change begins, at home, around the table, and in every quiet moment of care.
