Fundraising Policy

1. Purpose
This policy outlines how Lighthouse Dementia Support conducts fundraising activities legally, ethically, and transparently. It ensures that all fundraising reflects our values of dignity, inclusion, and trust.
2. Scope
Applies to all fundraising activities carried out by trustees, staff, volunteers, and third-party fundraisers.
3. Governance & Oversight
Trustees oversee all fundraising activities.
We follow the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice.
All fundraising is reviewed regularly for compliance and impact.
4. Code of Conduct
Fundraisers must:
- Be honest, respectful, and inclusive
- Avoid undue pressure or misleading tactics
- Protect vulnerable individuals, especially those affected by dementia
- Follow safeguarding protocols and data protection laws
5. Use of Funds
Donations support our charitable work, including education, outreach, and direct support services. Funds are allocated responsibly and transparently in line with our charitable objectives.
6. Donation Handling
We accept donations via online platforms, bank transfer, cheque, and fundraising events.
No goods or services are provided in exchange.
Refunds may be issued at our discretion if requested within 14 days.
Gift Aid is claimed where eligible, with donor consent.
7. Safeguarding
We take extra care to ensure fundraising activities do not exploit or distress vulnerable individuals. All fundraisers receive guidance on safeguarding and respectful engagement.
8. Complaints
Concerns about fundraising can be submitted via email or post. We aim to respond within 10 working days and escalate appropriately.
