Trustee Code of Conduct

1. Purpose
This Code sets out the standards of behaviour expected of trustees to ensure effective governance and uphold the charity’s values.
2. Trustee Responsibilities
Trustees agree to:
- Act in the charity’s best interests
- Comply with the constitution and charity law
- Attend meetings and contribute constructively
- Maintain confidentiality
- Declare conflicts of interest
- Promote the charity’s mission and values
3. Behaviour and Integrity
Trustees will:
Treat others with respect and kindness
Avoid personal gain from their role
Uphold safeguarding and data protection standards
Represent the charity professionally in public and private settings
4. Accountability
Trustees are accountable to:
The Charity Commission
Beneficiaries and the public
Each other, through mutual trust and transparency
5. Breach of Conduct
Concerns about a trustee’s conduct will be addressed by the Chair. Trustees may be removed by majority vote for serious breaches, including misconduct or failure to act in the charity’s best interests.
6. Policy Review
This Code will be reviewed annually and reaffirmed by trustees.
